The first
Vega UMPC from Raon Digital definitely found its way
into the hearts of those brave, generation one UMPC users. Not because it was technologically superior -- a 500MHz AMD Geode LX800... puhlease. Rather, it was one of the first to break through $1,000. While others have
moved on to Vista in their 2nd gen UMPCs, Raon's new
EVERUN continues down the XP route while packing significantly more bang for the buck. It's scheduled to hit S.Korea in late June with prices starting at ?650,000 or right around $700 for the entry level "EVERUN lite" model. Unfortunately, once the specialized importers add their markup, we'll be looking at something closer to $900, unless we get lucky and Raon sells direct. They've also released a video which you can check after the break.

Do you mind sharing why you like Korean women?
danny rho @ Jun 1st 2007 3:58AM
Let the horny, sad, comment begins.
It is like the oldest marketing putting girls next to just about
anything, but it STILL works. :-)

Women are sexy. Gadgets are sexy. Sexy women with sexy gadgets make my sexy wallet open.
kim_chi @ Jun 1st 2007 5:47PM
im not a big fan of that ugly keypad in its awkward place.. either make it a slide keyboard or make it virtual.. that thing is ugly
Cletus Cook @ Jun 1st 2007 5:15AM
I was going to comment otherwise but she is sexy!
petr @ Jun 1st 2007 5:43AM
I really like this UMPC, especially the 12 hour battery life.
Cletus Cook @ Jun 1st 2007 5:48AM
I really don't know anything about these devices but I was going to say that anything that uses XP over Vista has got my vote.
zunertuner @ Jun 3rd 2007 7:17AM
Has she undergone a plastic surgery?
I'm asking, because I've never been to Korea and she looks a bit too boyish. Or is it that you have to be different to become a model?
PEZ @ Jun 1st 2007 6:28AM
Wow look! It features a front AND A back for our convenience! GReat! Excellent! Fantastic! Wow!

Integrated wif? Not sure I like the sound of that
gmbowen @ Jun 1st 2007 7:45AM
I use their first generation unit (the one dissed here...the Vega) which has a smaller form factor and I *really* like it. Ya, it's not a speed demon...but with portable apps and the fitaly virtual keybd it's da bomb. It's waaay handier than I expected it to be, the wireless thumbstick less of a problem than I thought, and a portable keybd lets me type w/o problems. Solidly built too. What attracted me to the first gen was the SMALL size, this unit is bigger in ways I wouldn't find helpful....the Vega essentially replaced my palm....this one is too big for that.
XSportSeeker @ Jun 1st 2007 9:47AM
I like it... the price, the features, and battery time.
I'd consider waiting to buy it if I hadn't already bought my PMP (Archos 604). If it ever gets released outside S.Korea that is.
Nice laptop substitute depending on what you need to use.
Dunno about typing in that keyboard though...

Once again, there is no break. Stop using "after the break."
Phoenix Enigma @ Jun 2nd 2007 3:36AM
There is a break - kinda. They seem to refer to the point where they cut off the article for display on the main engadget page. If you get your gadget fix via RSS (probably pretty common with this crowd), then it makes no sense what-so-ever. And, for the most part, by the time you read 'after the break', you've read everything that's actually important anyways, IMHO.

The reason they use pretty ladies in their marketing campaign is because this photo just wouldn't get the same results --> http://image.aving.net/img/2007/05/31/200705311335364971.jpg
Mark @ Jun 1st 2007 11:24AM
is Hany Hanna offering to ship the computers or the women...?
Mark @ Jun 1st 2007 11:25AM
either way, I prefer chinese women over korean ones.
Darnell @ Jun 1st 2007 11:43AM
Lol. More comments over the lady than the gadget. I'll do the PC thing and say they both look good. The un-PC, would be I want them both.
Oracle @ Jun 1st 2007 11:44AM
Nice nose job

Are you fuckin kidding. Combine beautiful genetics with a culture of femininity and traditional values. Compare it to trashy or feminist bitches in the US and... yea, you'll jump ship too.

"STD battery life 7 hours"
Is this a kind of virus protection?
